There are some articles floating around the internet that suggest it is better not to do any sort of SEO work if you’re not going ‘all out’ with your campaign.

However, that is only true if you’re unsure about SEO to the extent that anything you’re doing could be construed as ‘bad’ SEO.One certainty is that businesses in all industries ought to be invested in SEO in some way. Of course, investment is what SEO is all about.

SEOYou either need to invest your time to do it yourself, or your money to allow an SEO agency to carry out the work on your behalf.

Impossible SEO

Many business owners think about SEO and the first thing that comes into their head is a simple ‘as if.’ They don’t have the time, they don’t have the money, and as a result, it just isn’t happening. Yet, they obviously don’t realise the dramatic and positive impact they could have on their search rankings if they were to find even an hour a day to work on SEO.

 

Even a small monthly investment will make a difference. Naturally, there’ll be SEO agencies out there who tell you that you need to be spending thousands every month in order to see sustained success, as they want to take more of your money. A little SEO can make a difference!

If you haven’t thought about SEO for your own website, then you definitely haven’t thought about it from the perspective of your competitors. How do you know what they are doing when it comes to SEO? The reality is that many of them will have the same outlook as the business owner who thinks SEO is impossible for a smaller company. That alone means that, actually, you’ll have to do very little to enjoy large benefits.

 

One thing many forget with SEO is that the results you see are down to the efforts of your competitor as well as yourself. You don’t know how much work you need to put in until you get started. For all you currently know, SEO could be easy for your site!

 

Building a Foundation

If you decide to hire the services of an SEO agency, you’ll probably hear them talking about the foundation of your site, and it’ll likely be the first thing that they look at once they get started. By this, they mean things like ensuring your page titles and meta descriptions are unique and optimized, and that you have a sound site design and infrastructure.

 

Even doing this will give you a big advantage. Importantly, it will also give you a strong SEO foundation, so if you’re able to increase the time or money you can dedicate to SEO in the future, you’ll already have a good base from which to build.

 

Some is better than nothing

Don’t fall into the trap of thinking that only doing a little won’t help. In the longer term, there is potential to see great returns.
