Social Media Marketing TIPS: Facebook EdgeRank

Facebook EdgeRankIn Facebook marketing ENGAGEMENT is a word to remember. You might not be aware that only an average of 16% of your posts gets seen by your fans. Why? The answer is EDGERANK.

EdgeRank is Facebook’s algorithm to control which posts appear on the individual’s news feed. In a nutshell – the more a user interacts with your posts, the more likely your upcoming content will show on their news feeds. The variables making up the algorithm include Affinity, Weight and Time.

Affinity measures the relationship between the reader and the post owner. The more interaction, the closer the relationship and that increases the EdgeRank.

Weight is the significance of the content and interaction related to it. Each type of content and interaction holds different weight.

Time is about freshness of the post. These posts lose value as time goes but popular posts remain longer in the news feeds of your followers.

So to conclude: for effective Social media marketing on Facebook you have to create popular content on a regular basis that is liked, shared and commented by the most of your followers and their friends.
