Digital Marketing for Small Businesses – Survey Results in a Nutshell

Digital Marketing for Business - survey feedbackFor the last few months we were conducting a survey, where small businesses were asked a number of questions about their digital marketing and the need for knowledge.

 

Over 2000 businesses where exposed to the survey using a number of different means – Facebook targeted advertising, email marketing, LinkedIn and Google advertising.

 

We have received 411 responses – result was pleasantly surprising. As a “Thank You” to all of you who have participated, we are sharing some of the results and giving a free training – as promised.

 

31% of all the companies that have participated in our survey are B2B (Business to Business) companies, 20% B2C (Business to Consumer) and the remaining 49% serve both businesses and consumers.

 

83% of all the business has a business website, 8% are planning to get one done, but 9% do not plan to have a website. We hope that this will change in the future. A business without website is unlikely to survive much longer these days.

 

Do you blog for your business? Congratulations, if you do! As over 56% of business do not have a blog. Only 2% blog daily, 6% blog few times a week, 7% blog weekly, 8% – monthly, 14% less than monthly.

 

Being a Social Media marketing company we really were looking forward to the question results on Social media.

 

Only 20% of all the businesses have Facebook page and are happy with results it delivers. 43% have Facebook page and are not happy, 19% need to start one and 18% are determined not to have a Facebook page for their business. 18% who do not plan to have a Facebook page is a number, that is highly disappointing.

 

Out of 86% of businesses that use LinkedIn, 66%  think they do not use LinkedIn efficiently enough.

 

To the question “Who does your digital marketing?” – 77% of businesses replied that they do their digital marketing themselves or their staff does it. Looking at the responses we would see this as a cause for most of the dissatisfaction and inefficiencies in the digital marketing performance.

 

It is pretty clear from the survey results, that businesses need a lot more education in all things digital.
